An Endo­scop­ic Ret­ro­grade Cholan­giopan­cre­atog­ra­phy (ERCP) is a pro­ce­dure com­bin­ing endoscopy and radi­o­log­i­cal tech­niques to help your gas­troen­terol­o­gist detect and treat dis­eases asso­ci­at­ed with the pan­creas, bile ducts, gall­blad­der and liv­er. The bil­iary sys­tem includes the gall­blad­der, bile ducts and bile ducts out­side the liver.

Com­mon­ly, ERCP is per­formed when patients have ongo­ing abdom­i­nal pain, are expe­ri­enc­ing weight loss or are jaun­dice and/​or when there are sus­pect­ed gall­stones or dis­eases of the gall­blad­der, liv­er or pancreas.
