Rik Baier, Chief Operations Officer of DuPage Medical Group spoke to the Glen Ellyn Rotary Club at Barones Restaurant in Glen Ellyn. Mr. Baier presented information on the final stages of construction of the new medical facility located 430 Pennsylvania in Glen Ellyn.
The new facility will replace the current medical building located at 454 Pennsylvania, which has been servicing the health and medical needs of Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities for over 40 years. The new medical facility will be completed the beginning of March 2008. Once all medical departments have moved to the new building, demolition to the old building will begin with an estimated completion date of May 2008. A parking lot for the new facility will be constructed on the demolished site and should be completed in July of this year.
The new building will have 92,000 square feet of space. State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment as well as university hospital-caliber equipment will be installed including a complete filmless environment which has the ability to store all radiology images on CD. There will also be a comprehensive women’s center designed towards women’s comfort and medical needs. Digital mammography, dexa scan services (measurement of bone density), and ultrasound are some of the procedures offered to women.
Physical Therapy services have been expanded to include occupational and hand therapy. With the larger space, more types of therapy treatments will be implemented, including treatment for women’s health issues. There will also be expanded lab services on the premises, an optical boutique, as well as additional retail shops.
