DuPage Medical Group Physician Named American Brachytherapy Society Fellow

DOWN­ERS GROVE, Ill. — DuPage Med­ical Group, the largest inde­pen­dent, mul­ti-spe­cial­ty physi­cian group in the Chica­go area, is proud to announce that Dr. Bri­an Moran has been select­ed for the pres­ti­gious Amer­i­can Brachyther­a­py Soci­ety Fel­low­ship. Dr. Moran will be rec­og­nized for this hon­or dur­ing the ABS Annu­al Meet­ing, held June 7 – 9 in San Francisco.

This sig­nif­i­cant dis­tinc­tion is award­ed to mem­bers of ABS with a min­i­mum of 15 years of active involve­ment, and at least a decade of exten­sive ser­vice to the Soci­ety. Nom­i­nees are eval­u­at­ed based on their clin­i­cal excel­lence and accom­plish­ments in patient care, demon­stra­tion of ser­vice includ­ing edu­ca­tion­al train­ing and men­tor­ship and con­tri­bu­tions that have advanced the field of brachytherapy.

Brachyther­a­py is a radi­a­tion ther­a­py tech­nique used to treat some forms of can­cer . The treat­ment involves the place­ment of small radioac­tive implants with­in can­cer­ous tis­sue, thus attack­ing can­cer­ous cells effi­cient­ly and effec­tive­ly, and lim­it­ing the radi­a­tion expo­sure to the sur­round­ing healthy tis­sue. This out­pa­tient pro­ce­dure is pri­mar­i­ly used to treat prostate, breast and cer­vi­cal cancers.

Dr. Moran is board cer­ti­fied in radi­a­tion oncol­o­gy and offers more than two decades of expe­ri­ence. He received his med­ical degree from Loy­ola Uni­ver­si­ty Stritch School of Med­i­cine and com­plet­ed his res­i­den­cy at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hos­pi­tal. He sees patients at 430 War­renville Road, Suite 100 in Lisle.
