DuPage Medical Group’s histology laboratory in The Dermatology Institute at CityGate Center in Naperville has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
The CAP is a leading organization in laboratory quality assurance and accreditation is awarded only to facilities that adhere to the highest levels of quality in laboratory practices and commitment to patient care.
“We are extremely proud of our laboratory and administrative teams for attaining the College of American Pathologists certification for the new DuPage Medical Group histology laboratory in Naperville at CityGate Center,” says the facility’s co-directors Dr. Ashish Bhatia and Dr. Jeffrey Hsu. “It is a rigorous process awarded to only laboratories with the highest standards.”
The histology laboratory is the first DMG laboratory to become CAP accredited and it is one of more than 7,000 accredited facilities worldwide. During the CAP accreditation process, laboratories undergo thorough examinations of records and quality control procedures. CAP inspectors also examine the staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment and facilities, as well as the overall management.
“At DMG, we strive to achieve excellence in all aspects of care provided to our patients, and laboratory services are no exception,” Dr. Bhatia said. “In fact, it is a key and critical part of health care delivery, and we will work to exceed the standards to provide the best care and services to our patients.”
