DuPage Medical Group Expands 3D Mammography to Tinley Park

DOWN­ERS GROVE, Ill. — DuPage Med­ical Group, the largest inde­pen­dent, mul­ti-spe­cial­ty physi­cian group in the Chica­go area, has upgrad­ed its imag­ing ser­vices by bring­ing 3D mam­mog­ra­phy to its Tin­ley Park loca­tion at 17495 South La Grange Road.

3D mam­mog­ra­phy, also known as breast tomosyn­the­sis, is sig­nif­i­cant­ly improved com­pared to 2D tech­nol­o­gy. Rather than con­dens­ing all tis­sue lay­ers, 3D mam­mog­ra­phy pro­vides images of breast struc­tures through indi­vid­ual ​“slices” of tis­sue in one mil­lime­ter lay­ers. 3D mam­mo­grams allow DMG board-cer­ti­fied radi­ol­o­gists, sub-spe­cial­ized in breast imag­ing, to review scans in more detail than ever before. This advanced tech­nol­o­gy makes breast can­cer eas­i­er to detect, par­tic­u­lar­ly in women with dense breast tis­sue and decreas­es the num­ber of call-backs requir­ing addi­tion­al imag­ing for patients.

DMG per­formed more than 50,000 mam­mo­grams in 2016, and rec­om­mends screen­ing mam­mo­grams for women start­ing at age 40. Ear­ly detec­tion is essen­tial for increas­ing sur­vival rates, as can­cer is most treat­able when found at an ear­ly stage.

Cur­rent DMG patients can direct­ly sched­ule a screen­ing mam­mo­gram with no physi­cian order. For patients who have had past imag­ing per­formed else­where, DMG seam­less­ly obtains old imag­ing from neigh­bor­ing facil­i­ties at no cost to you with a com­plet­ed records release form.
