Lice

The first sign of lice is usu­al­ly itch­ing. The egg (nits) are tiny, pearly-white, egg-shaped objects that stick tight­ly to the hair shaft. Lice are trans­mit­ted by direct con­tact or indi­rect­ly through con­t­a­m­i­nat­ed combs and cloth­ing. Treat­ment con­sists of a spe­cial cream rinse that is avail­able at the phar­ma­cy (Rid or Nix). Cream rins­es kill the lice, but care­ful comb­ing with a nit comb is nec­es­sary to remove the nits.
